Paul McEachern

Vice President, Strategy

Prior to joining m5 Public Affairs in 2019, Paul has worked on issues from within government as a Communications Director as well as an advocate for industry in sectors ranging from international trade, natural resources, oil and gas, environmental industries and renewable energy with an emphasis on regulatory matters. A former journalist, government communications director and industry lobbyist, he joined m5 Public Affairs after an assignment as Executive Director of a national renewable energy association.

Most of the past 20 years he has worked in energy, mining and environmental government relations. Relevant governmental experience includes terms as Director of Communications for the Nova Scotia Department of the Environment where he oversaw public education and general communications associated with the province’s first Solid Waste and Recycling strategy. For ten years he was the Managing Director of an industry association advocating the interests of supply chain companies in the shipbuilding and oil and gas realms. Prior to returning to Canada in 2018, he worked in the Oil/Gas and Marine Consultancy section of EY in London UK.

His networks within the political and bureaucratic communities of Atlantic Canada are cordial and strong.
