Tracey Burkhardt

Associate Vice-President

Tracey joined m5 Public Affairs in 2022 and has spent more than 20 years helping her private and public sector clients turn highly complex ideas in law, engineering and health care and social services into messages, strategies and policy proposals that work. With a background in communications, policy development and planning, Tracey has led several highly complex files in health care, transportation, and justice.

She has extensive public relations experience. She has briefed dozens of ministers and decision-makers in preparation for countless interviews, news conferences and scrums; organized hundreds of events, and has provided crisis management support through strikes, floods, plane crashes and the COVID-19 pandemic. Her previous roles also included responsibility for internal communications and employee engagement, and she holds a change management certificate from Prosci Canada.

The first graduate of St. Thomas University’s journalism program, Tracey is fluently bilingual and has served on several boards and committees, including a 14-year stint on the executive of the New Brunswick chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society. Currently, she is a member of the board of directors of the York Care Centre in Fredericton and is a former board member of the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation. In 2023, she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for her contributions to the province during the COVID-19 pandemic.
